[My work]

Philip Kendall - My PhD

I've now finished my PhD at the Institute of Astronomy of Cambridge University, where Jim Pringle was my supervisor.

I'm looking at the misalignment of jets and discs in Seyfert galaxies. More specifically, I'm investigating the possibility that the spin of the central black hole of the Seyfert could have been changed by swallowing a satellite galaxy. The question is whether the majority of the mass of the satellite ends up in the central black hole, or is tidally stripped and ends up in the disc of the Seyfert.
