Philip Kendall - The IoA Pub List

The IoA Pub List is a long running tradition, formed back in the mists of ancient time when spirits were brave, the stakes were high, men were real men, women were real women, and small furry creatures from Alpha Centauri were real small furry creatures from Alpha Centauri (apologies to DNA).

In a radical departure from its traditional form, the Pub List now has one nice easy to remember address, rather than just being a huge To: field on a mail somewhere: ast-publist@lists.cam.ac.uk. Some brief guidelines:

As a basic anti-spam measure, you can post to the list only from the address with which you're subscribed to the list: if this is causing you real problems, mail the managers (see below) and we can sort something out.
Do note that a significant proportion of the department are subscribed to the list, so please keep idle chat off the list...
In general, please keep the list to being plain-text mails only. Remember that most of the people will be reading their e-mail with Pine!

If you want to subscribe to or unsubscribe from the list, mail ast-publist-request@lists.cam.ac.uk. Note any processing is done by a real person rather than anything automated, so expect a small delay; also, the list membership is only updated once a day, so you may miss a couple of mails or get a couple even after you've (un)subscribed. If you're mailing from a different address than with which you're subscribed to the list, please make it clear which address you're subscribed to the list with!

Any other problems with the list should go to ast-publist-managers@lists.cam.ac.uk. If that doesn't work, try either Lisa or Richard instead.
